You guys don't seem to realise you are not entitled to being afford to take cabs.
They raise prices to reflect shifts in supply and demand. This is how it's SUPPOSED to work. -

I think it is fair for the taxi drivers but I just don't know whether the company will raise the rental or not

Well .... those people waiting at outside CBD in trouble man ....
Those people at Far East Plaza , Liat Tower , Orchard Tower , Newton , Tekka , Golden Mile , Gateway , Fu Lu Shou etc ....
I'm saying , i go inside CBD , extra $3 , why should i take those outside CBD ? -

Our grievances has been heard .
Now i cruise cruise cruise , outside CBD people "MUST" call ... no call no taxi .
If those outside CBD dun ON CALL a cab , i put " BUSY " go into CBD lor , either $3 or $3.50 .... -
S'pore to boycott taxis , LTA , SMRT and SBS has achieved their objectives , as in to divert some % of commuters to take their "not making enough" infrastructure , MRT .

Now taxis over demand .... it's a must to cut a slice of commuters to take MRT and buses .
Not that taxis not enough , the demand has increase a few folds over the years .
Due to diesel hike , they have to encourage those at outskirt area taxis to go down town to support the demand .
Outskirt since no demand , create a perks for them to come down , pricing is the main motivator .
Eg , me at Yishun , to come down town , my diesel cost is about $1.50 , since same flag down , why come down ?
Now when i'm at Yishun , i rush down ..... that $3 covered my diesel cost . Worth coming down . -
As far as Comfort is concern ..... we are assure of customers , our Corporate customers , our CabCharge customers .
Taxis is actually mean for those "can claim" customers , if u are forking out your own money , the Government ..... want to save money take MRT and buses , or ur cost of living will rise .
That's one way to curb current cost of living crisis . -
If the taxi fare is so cheap every Singaporean can afford , then when the IR and Singapore Flyer is completed , the tourist can never find a taxi back into their hotel .
Cos Singaporeans know ways to get a cab home , tourist doesn't know , they only know taxi stand is meant to wait for taxis , but the taxis never arrived !
It give Singapore a bad name .
They will go back home and say : " Singapore a beautiful place , but cannot get a taxi when i need one ! "
Only way ... bring up the taxi fare , shift some Singaporeans who felt taxi fare is expensive to MRT or buses , and let those tourist , who can afford to take taxis , get a cab easily ! "
It solved massive problems ahead before IR is completed .
