oh, i went to the shop along upp paya lebar rd towards upp serangoon rd, somewhere opp bethany presby church, the only bike shop along that stretch of rd. the 2 guys there not bad, friendly, skills wise, ok, cause only done normal service like oil change, see la, in a few weeks time i will go for oil change again and wash my carberettor, then i tell u their skills lor, by the way, where u live, and we female rider tried to contact u but cant get u leh, wats your email add? i changed my tires to tubeless from the original irc tubed. front tyre shinko brand $55 and rear vee rubbers brand $80. motortiam along upper bukit timah road near ten mile junction just before the road becomes woodlands road. feels cheap but i worried quality may be lacking. but too late to worry bout that anyway.Originally posted by acoolboy7:FQ TA 150. total mileage around 29000. reaching 30000 already. purely transport bike only. all previous owners also treat it as transport bike.

yah man, bloody irc tyres, i skidded and fell twice, both occassions while banking on a wet road just after rain. and i dont have crash bars, and the phantom so heavy one time fall sure got something to replace, worst is the handlebars bent. after i changed to shinko front and vee rubbers rear, some more now wet road i ride more carefully so far ok. stay away from the white arrows. but fell once with the new tyres, but no count coz dat one is my hdb multi-story carpark wet coz rain and vehicles make floor very very wet and you know how lousy traction of hdb multi story carpark floors.Originally posted by acoolboy7:i don't want irc tyres. i want tyres with better grip. irc tyres on wet surface totally useless. bank a bit will slide liaoz.
oh, regarding your reply, donno if u misread my post or wat, but i said i bought shinko and vee rubbers brand tyres, not irc. i not so stupid replace with irc tyres again

if you want can try Metzler ME1.. i think less than $150 for both front and rear.. heard that it's good for straight long distance road.. not very good for cornering.. but Phantom can't really go THAT low.. so should be ok.. been using that for months liaoz.. no problem with it.. i paid $190 for it.. think that's about Feb or March..

dunno y this few days my bike like very light liked that, the wind blow on my right i will slowly go left...when corning like buay zhai buay zhai like that dunno y like that....abit scared.....dunno is it my bike weight not poportion or tire problem....front irc rear perlin dunno wat model. i riding magma btw.....middle got leather bag...rear got a big box.... -

juz became one of the "Phantom member" abt a months ago.....
but hve no idea it need how long to Run-in the engine. The mechanic from my workshop told me it require to take abt 2000km, the travelling speed for Run-in engine shld not excess 80km/h?? is it so?? i though it shld not be excess 60km/h..... -

I run-in my bike with the following parameters:
max speed 80km/h
distance to run-in: 800km
1st oil change at: 800km
2nd oil change at: 2300km
use full synthetic oil only plus some additive to protect the engine.
Now i average of riding at 100km/h to 110km/h on the Xpress way after 800km.
But very important. Warm up the bike every start-up for 2-4mins b4 riding. this is to ensure the oil sump circulates within the engine.

well for me run in very important.. when first started to ride, always had problem starting... after proper run in v smooth.. dont have the problem like others had mention like start liao die off or engine die off at the traffic lights... this is wat i did:
max 70km/h for first 1000km
change engine oil at 800 and 1600km, this time dont have to use full syn but up to u...
after 1000km slowly increase the km/hr bit by bit to 80, 90km/hr
after 2000km then run in done... run in for car and bike different so have to take care... -
wah heng.. i just run-in for 800k.. anyway.. even then i already hit.. 100 top speed.. so now.. after 800 i just hit watever speed (anyway phantom 200 max: app120) for my case like this.. i have no problem like eng die off or wat.. but i always observe the five min warm up thing.

actually i m oso keen on a phantom outing...i suggest meet at a central place for a makan , chit chat n phantom 'exhibition' keke.... n then can divide into diff groups n cruise back home along AYE, ECP, PIE, CTE etc.......
meanwhile can all discuss diff tips n advises lor

Anywhere will do.. in fact we can do an impromptu outing if we run out of idea.. We can meet at the sugggested place and then proceed to the next destination.
I know of a few nice places to makan too. Ever heard of Handles Bar at St Andrew JC?? (A Bar for cruisers and coopers)
